Pidion HaBen is a Jewish ceremony held to "redeem" the firstborn son. It is based on a biblical commandment found in the Book of Numbers (18:15-16). The ceremony occurs when the baby is 30 days old, provided he is the firstborn of his mother, was born naturally, and has no older siblings.
